Dr. Charlyn Ingwerson

Faculty, Department of Languages & Literature, Drury University

Dr. Charlyn Marie Ingwerson is faculty in the Department of Languages and Literature at Drury University. She teaches courses in Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Literature, Contemporary Israeli Literature, Graphic Storytelling, American Literature after the Civil War, and a course in grammar, logic, and style. In 2022, she received the Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching at Drury University.

She directs the English for Academic Purposes program and serves as academic advisor for first-year international students. Her recent publications and speaking engagements present her critical approach to literary interpretation, Maternal Critical Theory, which emerges from her scholarship in comparative literature and philosophy.

Dr. Ingwerson serves the university community in a number of advisory capacities: as a member of the President’s Council on Inclusion and the International Advisory Committee.

Ingwerson is a Fellow at the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University, a member of the Association of International Educators (NAFSA), the American Association of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), and a member of the Board of the Midwest Jewish Studies Association.

​

She has presented her critical scholarship in contemporary literature by Middle Eastern women, Israeli literature, Motherhood Studies, and women’s peace movements at a number of conferences.
